How to register (and renew) a charity in Oregon
Oregon charitable solicitation registration is handled by the Oregon Department of Justice, Charitable Activities Section. Here is how the filing works, from the state’s own forms and instructions.
- Agency
- Oregon Department of Justice, Charitable Activities Section
- Forms
- Form RF-C once, then the annual Form CT-12.
- How you file
- Registration by email. The CT-12 is filed through the state’s payment portal or on paper.
- Who signs
- An officer or director signs. A paid preparer may enter the signature if a written statement from the officer is kept on file for that return.
- What to attach
- IRS determination letter, articles and bylaws at registration; the Form 990 each year.
- State fee
- No fee to register. The CT-12 fee is $20 to $400, plus 0.01% of net assets (capped at $2,000).
- Deadline
- Four and a half months after your fiscal year ends.
- Audit or review
- No audit or review requirement.
- If you file late
- $20, then $50, then $100.
